MPPA views health care policy (both health care provision and insurance protection) from the vantage of the patient and his/her family, who are the ultimate “consumers.”
We consider the patient to be the “decision-maker” about elective personal health care. In general, “physicians recommend and patients decide” in a collaborative partnership, free of undo financial and political constraints.
We favor and foster competition among providers and insurers, excellence in training for professionals, government protection of the public via professional licensing and insurance regulation, patient education on effective medical practices and biomedical research, and government programs to help those who cannot arrange or afford health care.
